When NEIL POSTMAN first wrote this book in 1985 he never could of dreamed of the prophetic implications it would have a quarter century later. MTV was only a few years old,computers were still in their infancy,cell phones, IPODS, wifi and the like were still sci-fi. Thru mindless entertainment and professional propaganda,the rulers give the people the “bait” and they willingly and unknowingly become sheep. Although today we see Orwells 1984 as a large part of the system of control,Huxleys vision of the future is also an integral method of controlling the masses. This book should be a mandatory read for all high school students. And now with the computer age upon us, Postmans amazing visionary mind is more pertinent today than when Neil penned this in 1985. Neil Postman died in 2003,but his insight still teaches us today.
